The Platelet Ratio Index (APRI) is based on a study conducted on adults with chronic liver disease (chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) at the Department of Gastroenterology of Marmara University (Istanbul).
The APRI score was significantly associated with fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, but not in those with chronic hepatitis B.
